Two swimmers were found dead after being pulled unconscious from the sea on the beaches of Halkidiki, as reported by Halkidiki News.
The first incident occurred on Metamorfosi beach, in the municipality of Sithonia, where a 77-year-old woman, a citizen of North Macedonia, was found in the sea. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman passed away after being transported to the Agios Nikolaos health center. The Port Authority of Neos Marmaras launched a preliminary investigation, and the body will be sent for autopsy to the Diavata forensic toxicology laboratory.
Several hours later, on Polihrono beach in the municipality of Kassandra, a 73-year-old man, a citizen of Serbia, was found.
He also passed away after being transferred to the Kassandra Health Center.
The second department of the Nea Moudania Port Authority is taking over the investigation, and the body will be sent to the Forensic Service in Thessaloniki.
