Police officers arrested a person from Čačak who is suspected of “illegally appropriating over 5.3 million dinars through long-term abuse of official position at the Center for Social Work of the city of Čačak.”
S. R. (66) was arrested, and it is suspected that, in the period from 2015 to 2023, she withdrew money from the current accounts of a large number of social assistance beneficiaries based on authorizations for the payment of social assistance benefits that she created herself by entering false information that social assistance beneficiaries had authorized her to do so.
In this manner, it is suspected that she unlawfully appropriated about 5,355,817 dinars and damaged a large number of social assistance beneficiaries for 3,306,637 dinars, as well as the budget of Serbia for 2,049,179 dinars.
S. R. has been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought to the competent prosecutor’s office, along with a criminal complaint for the criminal offense of abuse of official position.
