Almost 9,000 Turkish citizens have left Montenegro since the end of October, when the Government of Milojko Spajić temporarily introduced visas for Turkish citizens, while 194 of their requests for visa issuance were approved in the same period.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro announced that from October 27, when the executive branch introduced visas for Turkish citizens, until yesterday, 8,935 Turkish citizens left Montenegro, as reported by RTCG.
The reason for the Government to abolish the visa-free regime with Turkey was an incident that occurred on October 25 in the Podgorica neighborhood of Zabjelo, when a 25-year-old Podgorica resident with the initials M.J. was wounded with a knife.
Although the Montenegrin police initially claimed that a citizen of Turkey and a citizen of Azerbaijan were involved in the wounding, it turned out that the Podgorica resident was allegedly wounded by two citizens of Azerbaijan.
