Katarina Žličarić Džunić from Pirot swims for the Holy Cross every year, and she has a deep emotional reason for doing so. At the recent Holy Cross swimming event, which gathered more than 70 brave young men and women, Katarina revealed that she has been practicing this tradition for years, and her motivation for swimming is particularly touching.
Namely, on the very day of swimming, a few years ago, Katarina got a niece after many years of waiting, which was a moment that deeply shook and fulfilled her.

“Since then, I have decided to swim for the Holy Cross every year, in her name, and that will be the case as long as I can,” says Katarina, who, like many other participants, sees this act as an exceptional honor and spiritual duty.
Swimming for the Holy Cross at the former city swimming pool in Pirot is a tradition that has been held for years, and in which both girls and boys participate every year, some of whom, like Katarina, are filled with deep personal reasons at that moment.
