Two people have been arrested for stealing royal jewels from the Louvre Museum in Paris, BBC reported.
French media write that the suspects in the theft were arrested on Saturday, October 25.
One of them was arrested at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport while attempting to board a flight to Algeria.
On October 19, nine pieces of 19th-century jewelry belonging to the dynasties of Napoleon Bonaparte and Napoleon III were stolen from the Louvre. During their escape near the museum, the thieves dropped a diamond crown, which was damaged.
Police believe the thieves had inside help. The remaining royal jewelry has been moved from the museum to the vault of the Bank of France for security reasons.
