An unpleasant incident was recorded yesterday at Kalemegdan when a group of tourists was attacked by pickpockets, who are allegedly known offenders, who threw stones at them! One tourist guide was even threatened with a knife.
A tourist guide, who apparently had an unpleasant experience with a group of pickpockets at the Belgrade Fortress, published a video recorded at Kalemegdan during the encounter with the group of men. The footage shows a person from the group throwing a stone in the direction of the video’s author. The video was also posted on Facebook, along with an appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to respond to this increasingly frequent phenomenon.
“Yesterday, during a sightseeing tour at Kalemegdan, pickpockets threw stones at tourists several times and threatened our colleague tourist guide with a knife. And this is not the first time! The thugs in the videos are known to both the police and the guides. Despite evidence of theft and almost daily reports of pickpocketing, the vast area of the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan has no service to guarantee safety at all times for everyone,” the post’s author stated and continued:
“This is an ugly image of Belgrade, which is trying to establish itself as a safe tourist destination. Tourist guides are disappointed and desperate in their attempts to prevent further escalation of violence and currently have no choice but to defend themselves in such situations.”
Citizens expressed their disappointment in the comments, with one of the more striking comments reading: “That’s why ‘ćacilend’ is protected!”
