On the official X account of the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade, the first reaction of the students in the blockade to today’s address by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, appeared, in which he announced that in the coming days “we will see all the determination of the state of Serbia” as a response to the protests.
“Calling elections – the only action that would surprise us,” the students stated in the announcement.
In the next post, the students state: “The state won – the children are beaten or in prison.”
What did Vučić say?
“What was that in Novi Sad and Valjevo if it was not terrorism? Pure, I will not call it a more difficult name. What was that? Accordingly, I want to tell you, dear citizens, that you will see some of our surprising decisions in the next three or four days. In the coming days, it will seem to you that in some places we, as a state, have withdrawn and retreated, that we do not exist. At one point, you will see all the determination of the state of Serbia. We will use everything at our disposal to restore order, peace, and law,” Vučić said.
Although he did not specify what the state’s response would be, he said that this “response will be much different from what you have seen.”
When asked whether the introduction of a state of emergency is being considered, he said that it is the last measure.
“We have not considered the introduction of a state of emergency, and the introduction of a state of emergency is a complicated procedure. The consent of the president, the prime minister is needed, but it is necessary to go to a session of the National Assembly because the National Assembly declares a state of emergency. We have not considered that, that is an article of the Constitution. We have enough measures that we can take in accordance with the law. This is an extreme measure, we simply have not considered it so far and I would not want us to consider it,” he said.
