The U.S. State Department has issued a statement regarding the first-instance verdict against Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska.
“We acknowledge the verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik,” said State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce.
She added that the United States has invested in a stable Bosnia and Herzegovina for decades.

“We firmly oppose any actions by local leaders that could undermine security and stability. We support the Dayton Agreement, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Bruce stated.
Milorad Dodik was found guilty in the first-instance verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for disregarding the decisions of High Representative Christian Schmidt, while Miloš Lukić, acting director of the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska, was acquitted.
The court sentenced Dodik to one year in prison and banned him from political activity for six years.
