The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that the grave of Ivica Talić at the Serbian Orthodox cemetery in the village of Skulanevo, near Lipljan, was desecrated again last night. As stated, the perpetrators trespassed onto the cemetery property and took the Serbian flag from the mound of the recently deceased Talić.
The same incident occurred on February 8, when the Serbian tricolor was also taken, and on that occasion, the fence of the churchyard was also broken down.
“At that time, the perpetrators of this inhuman and anti-civilizational act were not caught or prosecuted, which is why the incident was repeated,” the statement emphasizes.
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that the policy of impunity for extremists leads to the repetition of incidents and crimes, and that the example of the desecration of Ivica Talić’s grave confirms this.
“Extremists fueled by anti-Serbian hatred and Pristina’s policies do not give peace even to dead Serbs,” the statement adds.
As mentioned, according to decades of field research, over the last 26 years, more than 400 Serbian cemeteries have been devastated and desecrated in Kosovo and Metohija, 50 have been completely destroyed, and more than 100,000 tombstones have been demolished.
“Unfortunately, such a terrorist policy and social climate is still alive today in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija,” the statement from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concludes.
