The Forum of Secondary Vocational Schools warned that at the Aeronautical Academy, “one of the best vocational schools in Serbia, illegal and impermissible actions are happening that seriously endanger the work of the institution, the interests of students, and the rights of employees.”
“Although all positive regulations of the Republic of Serbia were followed in the procedure for the selection of the director, which was also confirmed by the Republic Education Inspectorate, the Minister of Education made a decision to appoint as acting director a person against whom a disciplinary procedure was conducted and a decision was made to terminate the employment relationship due to attacks and threats to parents and employees,” the Forum points out.
According to the Forum, this act of the minister “grossly violated the provisions of the Law on the Foundations of the Education System, annulled the legal decision of the School Board, and violated the principles of legal certainty and equality before the law,” and at the same time, “called into question the reputation of the school, the quality of teaching, and the stability of the start of the new school year.”
“The Forum of Secondary Vocational Schools notes with indignation that this is a clear example of abuse of position and violation of the law, as there was no legal basis to reject the candidate Goran Cvijović, who was the only one, received unanimous support from the school board and employees, and whose candidacy was confirmed as legal,” the Forum states.
According to the Forum, “it is obvious that this decision hides personal and particular interests, and not concern for the knowledge, expertise, and future of the technicians that this school educates.”
Therefore, the Forum demands “an urgent review of the minister’s decision and the annulment of the illegal appointment of the acting director; the appointment of the legally elected candidate in accordance with the decision of the School Board and the finding of the education inspectorate and the initiation of a procedure to determine responsibility for abuse of authority and conscious violation of the law.”
