A girl (5) from Pancevo, whom her father saved from the fire that engulfed their family home on March 24, has passed away from the consequences of the severe injuries she sustained.
As a reminder, the father Marko L. (28) ran into the fire to save the life of his five-year-old daughter M. L., who was in the bathroom at the moment when the fire rapidly engulfed the house where they lived as tenants.
Marko’s wife Miljana (22) reacted immediately and carried out two younger daughters through the window near the street, and then Marko carried out the older girl.
While Marko and his daughter were passing through the fire, both sustained severe burns on their bodies and inhaled too much smoke. They were immediately transported to the hospital where, unfortunately, Marko passed away from his injuries.
The girl, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries last night.

Relatives are saying goodbye to the deceased girl and her father on social networks.
“God, you took them both. With her father who fought bravely, threw himself into the fire to save the life of his child. God, why do you take all the young children from us, our own, why God, why? Our angels, rest in God’s peace, may God and all the saints grant you the kingdom of heaven, a paradise full of flowers, you are our hyacinths,” the post reads.
We remind you that the fire broke out on March 24 shortly before 8 p.m., and Zeljko Grujic confirmed that the police received a report around 7:50 p.m. that a house was on fire in Olga Petrov Street in Pancevo. He specified that after the fire was extinguished, an investigation was carried out by order of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to determine the cause of the fire.
-It was determined that the fire most likely occurred due to an overload of electrical installations in the building, heating of cables, and the ignition of the building’s ceiling, which is made of reeds and other easily flammable materials – said Zeljko Grujic.
The family needs help
The family from Pancevo lost a family member overnight, but also everything they own, as well as a roof over their heads, so an appeal for help is now being made.
Despite the quick intervention of firefighters, the fire destroyed everything the family owned in an instant. Faced with a great loss, they now need help to overcome this extremely difficult period.
