Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić assessed today that Serbian diplomacy in recent days has shown “consistency,” and that due to President Aleksandar Vučić’s visit to Moscow in recent days, “there will be no interruption of EU integrations, nor sanctions (from official Brussels).”

COSTA AND KALLAS COMING

He stated for RTS that in the coming days, the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the EU’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, will visit Belgrade, and that he actually expects a strengthening of relations with Brussels, which “will not be at the expense of Serbia’s balanced foreign policy.”

“There will be no interruption of (European) integrations nor sanctions, that will soon be seen, that we can only expect continued development,” Đurić said.

SIGNIFICANT VISIT TO MOSCOW

Commenting on Vučić’s visit to Moscow, the minister stated that it was significant for strengthening the state’s foreign policy position regarding Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the economic strengthening of the country.

“We know that Serbia is one of the central entry points for exports to China… and that we receive 85 percent of gas through agreements with the Russian side, the extension of which is of strategic importance for Serbia. This visit will strengthen Serbia’s economic and political potentials, but at the same time, you could hear a clear message from the President at these meetings that Serbia is also on the European path,” Đurić said.

SERBIA IS PROGRESSING Speaking about his participation in the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers and foreign ministers of EU candidate countries, which was held on Thursday in Warsaw, he said that the current European Commission has shown “full commitment for Serbia to progress towards full membership (in the Union).”

Đurić also stated that the ideological spectrum of the participating ministers was “very diverse,” that “it is not always easy to find the right angle and satisfy an audience of such diverse orientations,” but that he was satisfied with Serbia’s performance. “Consensus exists for Serbia’s European future and full membership…

There were also representatives from Priština and other neighbors who used the meeting to attack our leadership. There were criticisms due to (Vučić’s) trip to Moscow (from representatives of) Luxembourg, Belgium, and Croatia, of course.

However, Serbia has nothing to be criticized for,” said the Serbian minister. “We are openly against historical revisionism, we are proud that Serbia made a great contribution to the fight against fascism and Nazism… And our interest remains secure energy supply, preserving the memory of generations who gave their lives in the struggle… We are guided by our interests, we do not belittle anyone else, on the contrary,” Đurić stated.

STRATEGIC DIALOGUE WITH THE USA

The head of Serbian diplomacy added that Serbia wants to accelerate the development of relations with the USA, that a strategic dialogue with official Washington is ahead of us, and that he looks forward to the arrival of the new US ambassador.

The minister also announced that in the near future, a major call will be announced under the name “Be a Serbian Diplomat,” through which students and experts will be invited to join the ranks of Serbian diplomacy, through which Serbia also wants to “expand its presence in key geopolitical centers.”
