The Election Commission of the Sevojno City Municipality rejected the electoral list “United – Sevojno” for the elections for the Assembly of the GO Sevojno scheduled for March 29, because, as stated in the decision, it was submitted by an unauthorized person.
According to the decision, the electoral list was submitted by Dušan Matić on March 7 at 3:02 p.m., on behalf of the Citizens’ Group United – Sevojno. “A review of the documentation determined that the electoral list was accompanied by an Agreement on the Formation of the Citizens’ Group United – Sevojno, in which Stanko Ćirković from Sevojno is listed as the person authorized to submit the electoral list,” the decision states.
It notes that the person who submitted the list (Dušan Matić) was not authorized to submit it, nor did he provide a document showing that the authorized person from the coalition agreement had transferred that authority to him.
This, as explained in the reasoning, constitutes an “irreparable obstacle for the consideration of the electoral list and a legal basis for its rejection.”
The decision of the GO Sevojno Election Commission adds that the submitter of the electoral list may file an objection with the Election Commission within 48 hours of the publication of the decision on the website of the Republic Election Commission.
As a reminder, Sevojno citizens gathered last night in front of the City Election Commission in this municipality because, as Dušan Matić said, “dark vehicles with Belgrade license plates” were noticed in front of the institution.
Matić said last night that they suspected their list would be rejected for the second time.
“We gathered because we faced obstruction from the City Election Commission when submitting our list for the second time. We came to a situation where we must defend our right. The Municipal Election Commission plans to reject our list due to legal formalities that occurred during the signing of the documents,” he explained.
As the list leader, Matić explained, relying on information from his source in the commission, the list may be rejected because the person listed as the head of the list was not the same when the citizens’ signatures were submitted.
“The founder of the citizens’ group ‘United for Sevojno’ is Stanko Ćirković, while I am the submitter and head of the list. My signature is on that paper, and the municipal election commission considers that illegitimate and a sufficient reason to reject the electoral list. We plan, if allowed, to correct any irregularity, but they must return the list to us for review so we can see what we did wrong, fix it, and resubmit it for revision within a few minutes,” he added, noting that if the list is rejected, there will be no time to collect new signatures, as the deadline is Monday.
