The appearance of fireballs was recorded in several states in the southeastern United States, and the American Meteor Society announced that it had received more than 140 reports of the phenomenon.
According to information from six states – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee – the fireballs were recorded yesterday, ABC News writes.
In northern Georgia, numerous reports indicate that the phenomenon was accompanied by an earthquake.

The National Weather Service stated that a citizen from Henry County reported damage, claiming that a “stone” went through their ceiling.
“It appears that a meteor or space debris crossed the sky of northern Georgia before 12:30 PM. The earthquake you felt was a result of the sonic boom from the meteor or space debris,” the Natural Sciences Service announced in a statement.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) told ABC News that several strong flashes of light were observed yesterday, one of which was recorded between 12:21 PM and 12:26 PM ET, south of Atlanta.

Security camera and in-car camera footage in South Carolina captured a fireball moving across the sky at that time.
NOAA also shared footage of a “rapid flash” recorded near the Virginia and North Carolina border.
The National Weather Service in Charleston also confirmed that satellite lightning detection showed a trace in the cloudless sky near the Virginia and North Carolina border.
