NATO tonight rejected claims that the “Bondsteel” military base (Camp Bondsteel) in Kosovo and Metohija was used for U.S. attacks on Iran and pointed out that it is not participating as an organization in the current military campaign against the Iranian authorities.
“That claim is false and we completely reject it,” a NATO official told the Beta news agency when asked about claims on social media that missiles toward Iran were launched from the “Bondsteel” base, which is also the operational headquarters of the KFOR mission.
In a response to Beta, the NATO official stated that the Secretary General of the Western alliance, Mark Rutte, “has already made it clear that NATO as an entity is not involved in the current air campaign against the Iranian regime.”

The Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission in Kosovo, the NATO official added, continues to carry out its mandate — to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999, at all times, impartially and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EULEX mission.
The Western alliance official also stated that the United States has nearly 600 soldiers within the KFOR mission and that they “continue to play a key role in supporting lasting security throughout Kosovo and regional stability,” within that NATO-led mission.
