At Serbia’s invitation, a joint exercise of the Serbian Army and NATO forces will be held in May, the NATO Allied Joint Force Command Naples announced on X.
“The Western Balkans is a region of strategic importance for NATO. We welcome the opportunity for Serbian and allied military units to train together in Serbia this May. The exercise will take place at the Borovac Military Training Ground, which the Serbian Armed Forces widely use to prepare units for international missions, including United Nations peacekeeping operations,” the statement on X read, N1 reports.
As highlighted by the Command, this training contributes to stability in the Western Balkans.
“This activity will be conducted at Serbia’s invitation and with full respect for its declared policy of military neutrality. Joint training enhances interoperability, strengthens practical cooperation, and contributes to stability in the Western Balkans. NATO values its partnership with Serbia and looks forward to working together during this exercise,” the statement added.
The Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples, U.S. Admiral George Wyckoff, is visiting Belgrade and recently met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, General Milan Mojsilović.
The NATO Allied Joint Force Command Naples serves the NATO alliance through the preparation, planning, and conduct of military operations. It is also the leading command structure for KFOR, according to the profile description posted on X.
