Serbian tennis player Hamad Međedović has advanced to the third round of Roland Garros, defeating Argentine Juan Manuel Cerúndolo with a score of 6:3, 6:4, 7:5.
The Serbian representative continues his excellent performance at the French Open, and even the rain couldn’t stop the impressive surge of the world No. 74 on the ATP rankings. He secured the win in just over two hours of play, maintaining a perfect record in Paris – as he has yet to drop a set.
Međedović was the first Serbian player to take to the court today, and he immediately took control of the situation. He applied pressure from the very start, securing a break advantage after just three games. Although he dropped one of his service games, he responded with two more, which easily gave him the first set.

Despite making quite a few errors, the Serbian player also had a huge number of winners (a remarkable 40). He was exceptional at the net, losing only three out of 17 points when closing in. In the second set, he faced a significant test, almost squandering his lead. Cerúndolo managed to break back and level the score at 4:5, but the young man from Novi Pazar “returned the favor” and took the second set.
In the third set, Međedović had a “déjà vu” moment, as the same situation from the previous set occurred. Rain forced the players to take a short break, after which the Serbian player secured a break. The ninth game brought his error, which the Argentine gladly capitalized on. Cerúndolo sensed a tie-break and an opportunity for a comeback, but Međedović cut that short with a decisive break, putting an end to the match.
He will now face the winner of the ongoing match between Czech Vit Kopřiva and German Daniel Altmaier in his quest for the fourth round.
