LEFT ORPHANS IN AN INSTANT: Children of the deceased priest are fighting a life battle in the hospital, Serbian church from America launched a major aid action!

The terrible tragedy that occurred on April 2 on the Brod–Derventa main road has cast a shadow of grief over Republika Srpska and the entire Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla. In a horrific traffic accident, Father Nenad and his wife Neda lost their lives, leaving behind a disconsolate family, parishioners, and that which is most sacred—three children.

Father Nenad, a native of Liješće, served God and the people in Pojezna near Derventa. He was more than a priest—he was a pillar of the community, a lover of football and folklore, a man whose gentleness opened all doors. His wife Neda was the pillar of the family and an active participant in church life, a woman whose kindness warmed everyone who met her.

Their children, who were in the car with them at the moment of the accident, survived and have been provided with medical assistance.

Statement from the hospital where the children of the deceased priest are placed

One of the three children of priest Nenad Mitrić, who perished along with his wife last night in a traffic accident near Brod, will be transferred for treatment to KBC Zagreb.

As the hospital told Aloonline.ba, the children are currently stable and out of life-threatening danger.

“All three children are currently stable and out of life-threatening danger and are undergoing treatment in our institution. All treatment and care procedures, as well as situational monitoring, are being carried out. Due to the complexity of the injuries and the need for further supervision in a specialized pediatric intensive care unit, one child will be moved during the day to KBC Zagreb, Rebro, pediatric intensive care unit,” stated the General Hospital “Dr. Josip Benčević” Slavonski Brod.

Humanitarian action launched

The tragedy that in one moment extinguished two young lives and left three little ones without a parental embrace has triggered a wave of kindness throughout the diaspora. St. Petka Church from Nashville launched a major humanitarian action via the GoFundMe platform in order to collect necessary funds for the treatment, recovery, and a more secure future for the children of Father Nenad and Priest’s Wife Neda.

While these brave little ones in hospital beds struggle with physical injuries and unimaginable loss, it is our Christian and human duty to be their support.
