The Serbian international both started and sealed Colorado’s fate, and at the same time became only the third player in the MLS with 15 or more goals for different clubs in two consecutive seasons
Dejan Joveljić went down in the history of American soccer as the first player in a transfer between two American clubs for whom compensation was paid. Last winter, Kansas paid Los Angeles Galaxy around 4,000,000 euros for the arrival of the Serbian striker, and now he has once again drawn attention to himself. With two goals against Colorado, Dejan Joveljić became only the third soccer player ever in the MLS who managed to score more than 15 goals in two consecutive seasons for two different clubs.

Last season, Joveljić’s performance was 21 goals and seven assists in 33 appearances, while this season he is currently at 16 goals and two assists in 28 games. However, team-wise, the former Red Star player was much better off in California. He won the title with Los Angeles last season, while with Kansas he is far from the play-off positions.
The 4:2 victory over Colorado was only the seventh in 28 rounds, but at least it ended a streak of four consecutive defeats, and six matches without a victory. Joveljić both started and sealed the rival’s fate with goals in the 4th and 81st minute, in an almost identical way – with a diving header, from the first post. In the meantime, the guests even turned the game around and led 2:1 at halftime, but in the last twenty minutes they were left without any spoils.
