Miloš Teodosić has finished an extremely rich club and national team career.
In 2010, Teodosić was the EuroLeague MVP and was selected to the All-EuroLeague First Team six times. He won the EuroLeague in 2016 with CSKA, and won the EuroCup with Virtus, where he was also the competition’s MVP and top scorer.
He won the Russian championship twice, and the VTB League six times. He also won Serie A with Virtus in 2021, as well as two Italian Supercups.
He was MVP of the Greek Cup twice and won the trophy both times. He won the Radivoj Korać Cup with Zvezda, as well as the ABA League.
He was named the best Serbian basketball player in 2016, and with the national team, he has three silver medals: at the 2016 Olympic Games, the 2014 World Championship, and EuroBasket 2009.
With the youth categories (U16, U18, and U20), he was European champion.
One of Serbia’s best point guards in history has decided to say goodbye to basketball.
With this letter, Teodosić bid farewell to basketball.
„Dear friends, esteemed basketball lovers and connoisseurs,
First of all, thank you for 30 years of shared struggle, enjoyment, joy, and sadness. The time has come for me to say goodbye to one phase of my love for the magical game under the hoops.
Behind me, behind us, there has been a lot of desire, struggle, sacrifice. Trophies won, but also lost finals. That’s all basketball, and that’s all life. And I wouldn’t change any of it, I would do everything – the same again!
Thank you to my people from Valjevo, my Serbia. And to all the coaches with whom I had the opportunity to learn basketball.
I haven’t learned it (yet) completely. She and I will exchange knowledge and experience for a long time to come. For the rest of my life.
I wouldn’t specifically highlight individuals, decisive minutes, the most important games… Because every one of those “details” (coaches, teammates) was important for my career.
The greatest gratitude goes to my family. And the greatest pride is with them. Lately, I’ve realized that the greatest wealth of my playing career is – I will have something to show my children! Just for them to grow up a little more… In front of them, I will be and am – the most fulfilled.
I wouldn’t want to make a personal mistake at the end, so here’s a group message: „Immense THANKS to everyone, literally, every teammate. You all made me a better basketball player. I remember that.“
We all play for and because of the fans. Therefore, thank you to them, sincerely and from the bottom of my heart. The applause and support felt good. Criticism motivated, boos strengthened. Regardless of club affiliation, a fan always demands respect from us, for whom they came to the hall. During my career, I didn’t read many comments or pay attention to social media, but I felt every sigh in the hall very well. And every silence. That’s where inspiration comes from, that’s why you push yourself to be better. And now, not to deviate too much from myself, and it is known that I haven’t opened up my emotions much to the public, but this one I want and must share: my wish is for it to be known that I ended my career in a club that has a dominant place in my heart.
About my love for Serbia, playing for its crest and under the beloved tricolor, I said everything on the court. It is impossible to describe with words that unique, wonderful feeling that still smolders within me. My homeland will forever remain the most important and most beloved to me.
Thank you again basketball, we’ll see each other from now on, just without sneakers, jersey, and shorts,“ Teodosić announced in a letter delivered to the Nova.rs editorial office.
