In less than 24 hours, $71,000 has been raised to help truck driver Milomir Jaćimović.
On the gofundme.com platform, the diaspora is collecting money for the truck driver who was arrested yesterday along with his son, after he attempted to harm himself due to problems his company faced, all because of his support for students.
Jaćimović, a transporter, is known to the public for driving students to protests, and he continues to suffer consequences because of it. Last week, he was again targeted by assailants who first slashed his bus tires, and then broke his windshield on the day of a protest in Belgrade, to which he was supposed to drive his fellow citizens. He also received numerous fines.

Jaćimović’s Arrest and Students’ Support
Yesterday, Jaćimović attempted to harm himself in front of the SNS premises in Novi Sad. An intervention police unit quickly arrived, reacted, broke the windows of the car in which Jaćimović was located, and he was then apprehended.
Previously, Milomir’s son was detained for plastering posters on the SNS premises with photographs of police officers who had obstructed Jaćimović’s work and stopped him on the road while he was transporting students.
Students in Blockade: “Milomir, We Are With You!”
Students in Blockade publicly thanked and offered support to the arrested truck driver who had been transporting students to protests for months, free of charge.
“When no one wanted to drive, he said ‘Get in, children, let’s go.’ When blockades, rain, and police zones awaited us – Milomir waited for us. When his tires were cut, when an anonymous voice on the other end of the line threatened him, when his license plates were removed and his vehicle stopped – he did not back down. He did not give up. He continued to drive,” the students wrote.
They told him that he must never harm himself – “not because of them.”
The students emphasized that no person who stood with the students must be left alone, and that no one should pay a personal price for a struggle that is collective.
They published the account number where citizens can send donations to help truck driver Jaćimović.
Milomir Jaćimović’s account number is 340-1000182103-17, Kralja Petra prvog 12, Đurđevo.
“We are in this together. And together we will finish it,” say the students in the faculty blockade in Novi Sad.
