Vasilije Stančić is 20 years old and a student at the School of Electrical Engineering (ETF) in Belgrade. In mid-2024, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma—a malignant tumor of the connective and soft tissue of the chest. After nine months of treatment, the disease has progressed.
The illness manifested at the beginning of 2024 with symptoms such as increased fatigue, weight loss, and low-grade fever. From May 29 to June 14, 2024, he was hospitalized at the Pulmonology Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Serbia (UKCS).
A chest X-ray (RTG pulmo et cor) showed a homogenous shadow in the upper and middle right lung field. A malignant tumor of the connective and soft tissue of the chest was diagnosed (C49.3 Neoplasma malignum textus connexivi et mollis thoracis). A percutaneous biopsy of the intrathoracic tumor was performed, and the pathological findings confirmed Ewing’s sarcoma. He has been receiving treatment at the Institute for Oncology and Radiology since June 2024.
After nine months of chemotherapy, a scan in February 2025 indicated disease progression. The tumor dimensions were larger than the initial measurements from June 2024. It is essential that Vasilije continue treatment abroad as soon as possible, as the disease is progressing rapidly.
Since this type of treatment requires significant financial resources, help from all people of goodwill is urgently needed in the form of donations. Funds are needed for specialist examinations, chemotherapy, laboratory tests, medications, proton radiation, surgical treatment, as well as travel and accommodation expenses during his stay.
For Vasilije’s dreams! Let’s be humane!
