Three bodies were found this morning in a family house in Čačak. It turned out that the son killed his father and mother by slitting their throats with a knife, and then stabbed himself in the chest and cut his veins, causing him to bleed to death.
Although they lived in the neighborhood for a full 26 years, the neighbors knew almost nothing about this family—they were withdrawn, lived an unusual lifestyle, rarely left the house, and sometimes no one would set foot in the yard for days. In conversations with neighbors, there is a prevailing suspicion that this family had been hiding a secret for years.
To reiterate, it is suspected that V. Č. (47) cut the throats of his mother M. Č. (72) and father N. Č. (79) with a knife, and then inflicted severe injuries on his chest and veins, from which he died on the spot.
Moved into the Cursed House 26 Years Ago
Neighbors are still in shock over this horrific crime, and unusual facts about this family, who moved into the house from Bosnia and Herzegovina 26 years ago, continue to emerge. As we wrote, a previous family of four—father, mother, and two daughters—lived in that house.
During the bombing, the house was damaged, and the owner of that house committed suicide by hanging himself in the living room. According to neighbors, the mother then sold the house to the couple who were murdered today.
– “That house seems to be cursed, something is wrong with it. It was first severely damaged during the NATO bombing in 1999—it wasn’t completely destroyed, but it suffered serious damage from the projectiles, and it was later renovated,” shocked neighbors previously told “Blic.”
“No One Knew Them, They Didn’t Socialize”
As neighbors told “Blic,” members of this family avoided socializing with the locals ever since they moved in 26 years ago. – “I used to see the elderly gentleman who took out the trash and came to the store every morning, early in the morning. He never wanted to say his name. No one from that family wanted to have contact with us, the long-time residents. In the summer, their daughter would visit with her children; I saw them a couple of years in a row during the summer holidays,” one neighbor tells “Blic.”
As we learned, the daughter lives in Italy with her family and has been notified of the crime.
“It Happened That No One Left That House for Days”
As the residents of Čačak told “Blic,” no one had contact with this family. Stories, conversations, and socializing seemed not to exist for this family; a brief “how are you” was the extent of their communication.
– “The deepest communication we had with them was ‘how are you’ and ‘how are you doing.’ They never got into a deeper conversation with anyone. It happened that no one left that house for days except the man (the father) who would go to the store,” neighbors told “Blic.”
As “Blic” learned, V.Č. (the son) had been living and staying in Čačak since he moved to Serbia. According to unofficial information, the murdered family did not have citizenship of the Republic of Serbia. Because of this, there is suspicion that V.Č. only traveled to BiH using an ID card, from where, it is suspected, he could have traveled to other countries. However, the competent institutions in Serbia still do not have this information.
– “This family does not have a single stain on their record in Serbia. The police never intervened in their home; there are no reports against any member of that family. During the bombing, several houses in that area were destroyed. They moved in after the previous owner sold the house following the NATO bombs. Before that, her husband had killed himself,” explained a source for Blic.
It is precisely this withdrawn nature, say the residents of Čačak, that has caused discomfort and raised questions for years that were never clearly answered.
Tending to the Yard in Recent Days
Although members of this family were rarely seen, except when they went into the yard, to make the whole situation even more mysterious, some neighbors also say that they had recently been tidying up the yard.
– “A few days ago, that woman came to ask for the ladder, which is still at their house. They were tidying the yard; they had swans sent from abroad, which they placed by the front door. These days, they were really tidying the house and the yard. Three days ago, the woman who was killed was planting flowers in the yard,” a neighbor revealed to “Blic.”
