A fire engulfed the barracks located in the immediate vicinity of the Sava Lake at Ada Ciganlija early this morning, forcing people out of their homes.
Thanks to the quick response of firefighters, all residents of the barracks were safely evacuated from their homes and, according to initial information, there were no injuries. However, the material damage, judging by the pictures, is very large.
Mothers ran barefoot into the street, holding their children in their arms, and as a reporter from the scene reports, after they had put the children in a safe place, they ran towards the ruins to take whatever they could, in order to warm themselves and their children.

– The situation is difficult. People from the barracks are scared. Children are crying, some of them are standing barefoot in the street – reports a Telegraf reporter from the scene.
The extent of the damage will be known later, however, judging by the pictures and videos from the scene, only bricks remain of the houses.
