Children’s singer Ella Jenkins passed away at the age of 100, her publicist announced.

The legendary Chicago singer was best known for songs such as You’ll Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song, Did You Feed My Cow? and Miss Mary Mack.

She was known as the ‘First Lady of Children’s Music’, with a career spanning over 60 years and earning her a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

“The First Lady of Children’s Music, Ella Jenkins, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Harborside at Admiral at the Lake in Chicago. She was 100 years old,” her spokesperson said in a statement.

“Known for her deceptively simple chants and songs,” Jenkins revolutionized children’s music in the United States.”

Ella Jenkins’ publicist said she died ‘after a long illness’.
