The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated today that the RS takes seriously the statement of U.S. Secretary of State Marko Rubio, emphasizing that the current crisis in BiH was not caused by the RS.
“It seems,” said Dodik, “that the State Department is still in the nation-building business.”
“It is hard to understand how this fits into the new anti-globalist policy and the America First policy advocated by U.S. President Donald Trump,” Dodik said on the platform X, Tanjug reported.
He added that the current crisis in BiH “we neither caused, nor is it by our choice.”
“If we accept that a German bureaucrat and a handful of ambassadors have the power to change international law, our Constitution, and laws, then we accept the end of the Dayton Agreement and the end of the Republic of Srpska. We will continue to fight for both,” Dodik emphasized.
He stressed that it is consistent to talk about a peaceful agreement that would ease tensions and end the current crisis, but it must be based on the return to the rule of law, the ending of the militarization of the judiciary, and the joint state institutions of BiH, as well as the quick end to foreign interference in RS matters.
“Let me make it clear again, the Republic of Srpska and I are committed to a peaceful and negotiated solution to the current crisis initiated by (Christian) Schmidt,” Dodik said.

On Saturday, Rubio stated that the U.S. encourages political leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina to engage in constructive and responsible dialogue.
Rubio called on U.S. partners in the region to join in opposing what he called the “dangerous and destabilizing” behavior of RS President Milorad Dodik, whom he accused of undermining BiH institutions and jeopardizing its security and stability.
