Kosovo police confirmed again this morning in an official statement that two men were arrested on suspicion of attempting to abduct a minor girl last night in Mali Zvečan. The case is officially being investigated as the criminal offense of “Attempted kidnapping in co-perpetration.”
According to the police statement issued this morning, while the sixteen-year-old girl was walking down “Zvečanska” Street in North Mitrovica accompanied by her mother, a vehicle with two unknown individuals stopped and tried to persuade her to get into their car, reports KoSSev.
The girl managed to record them with her mobile phone and immediately notified the police, but the suspects had already fled the scene.
Police units then launched swift operational and investigative actions, the statement continues. Just a few hours after the incident, both suspects, originally from South Mitrovica, were identified and arrested:
A.P. (41) – arrested around 19:55; breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.04‰.
G.M. (36) – arrested around 20:55; breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.66‰.
The prosecutor ordered the initiation of proceedings for “Attempted kidnapping in co-perpetration” and imposed a 48-hour detention. Due to their state of intoxication, further questioning will continue later.
The police stated that they remain committed to enforcing the law and arresting all those who commit or attempt to commit criminal acts.
Testimony of the girl
KoSSev reported last night, shortly after the incident, the testimony of the underage girl, which she gave to the portal in the presence and with the permission of her parents.
The girl described that the suspects in a gray “Golf 7” with Kosovo license plates allegedly circled back three times, insisting that she get into their car.
As she recounted, one of them pushed her against the vehicle and forced her to take his photo, after which she managed to escape. The men then continued to follow her, trying to convince her that they only wanted to “give her a quick ride to town.”
Thanks to her composure and the help of her father’s friend who happened to be nearby, she managed to reach her mother and younger brother. Together, they recorded the suspects, who, according to her, did not give up until they realized the police had been called.
