Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic assessed today the visit of the son of the American president, Donald Trump Jr., to Banja Luka as successful and useful, and pointed out that the event showed that political Sarajevo does not consider Republika Srpska to be in BiH.
Cvijanovic told RTRS that a series of different incorrect interpretations appeared from Sarajevo regarding the event, but that not a single comment acknowledged that such an important figure had come to BiH.
“Everything that happens on the line between Republika Srpska and the outside world, which includes the USA, is an agreement of elected representatives and people who have the political strength to agree on something on behalf of Republika Srpska,” said Cvijanovic.
She noted that lobbyists serve an entirely different purpose and that this is clearly not clear to political Sarajevo.
“Instead of all of us saying together how significant this visit is, yesterday we had a whole day of a campaign of lying, meddling, and inventing, and even certain representatives of the opposition fell into that trap, commenting that someone will have to pay for the visit,” said Cvijanovic.
She believes that the opposition should take a mature stance regarding the arrival of Trump Jr. in Banja Luka, instead of talking about how taxpayers will pay for it.

“Taxpayers will not pay for it, nor will anyone else, but the fact is that the event is being devalued by the production of misinformation, and they are probably privately afraid that there might be a greater reason behind it,” said Cvijanovic.
She stated that Republika Srpska has been in a strong diplomatic offensive for a year now and is using its opportunities to communicate and enable the truth to find its way.
“Our goal is the path to truth and the path to justice and the removal of the injustice under which we have had to live, by having double standards and measures applied to us in Srpska and to the Sarajevo political elite,” said Cvijanovic.
She pointed out that political Sarajevo has been using all the tools of foreign policy for three decades to blacken Republika Srpska and the Serbs.
“The time has come for those who make decisions to understand that BiH, in its setup, is such that it can only be decentralized, and that awareness is growing and it is in our interest to talk about that topic,” noted Cvijanovic.
She believes that in the previous four years, unlike Republika Srpska, BiH has regressed significantly because it cannot reach a compromise on essential issues.
“How can a country progress in which some foreigner thinks he can change the law,” Cvijanovic asked.
She believes it is not good for one part of BiH to work against another part, but that instead, there should be dialogue.
But, she added, there is no dialogue because for political Sarajevo, it is more important that Republika Srpska does not succeed or to settle scores with the SNSD and its leader Milorad Dodik, than it is for them to care about the success of BiH.
