Tristan Vukčević, the young Washington Wizards basketball player, has definitively decided to wear the jersey of the Serbian national basketball team, Greek media report.
Although he had the option to choose among as many as four different national teams, Vukčević rejected invitations from Greece, Italy, and Sweden, clearly stating that he wants to defend the colors of the country his father, Dušan Vukčević, comes from, a former player for Partizan, Real Madrid, and a national team member of former Yugoslavia.
According to the reputable “Gazeta” from Athens, despite the serious approach and great interest shown by the Greek Basketball Federation, Tristan made up his mind and chose Serbia.
“Regardless of the strong engagement of the Greeks, Vukčević clearly stated that he wants to play for Serbia,” Gazeta reports.

Born in Italy, with a mother from Sweden and a childhood spent in Greece, Tristan had a wide choice of national teams. However, he did not neglect his family roots and emotions towards Serbia.
As media report, FIBA has already been informed of his decision, and the administrative part of the work is practically completed. Now, only official confirmation is awaited, after which Vukčević will formally become part of the Serbian national basketball team.
