Teodora Injac will turn 25 on May 26th and could celebrate that birthday with the title of European champion. The Serbian chess player is currently participating in the European Championship held in Rhodes (Greece) and is close to achieving great success. She is just a little short of victory.
Teodora achieved her eighth consecutive victory at the competition, and two rounds before the end, she recorded a win against Lilit Mkrtchian (Armenia), forcing the Armenian to surrender the match when she saw that she could not find any solution on the board. It was this victory that secured first place and the lead before the penultimate round.
It is in that round that the most important match against Romanian Irina Bulmaga awaits her. If she manages to defeat her or reach a stalemate, i.e., a draw, it is certain that she will win the title. So, she is one victory away from a major title.
Who is Teodora Injac?
Teodora currently holds the title of Woman Grandmaster and International Master. At the Serbian Championship held in Kragujevac in 2018, she became the youngest senior champion of Serbia. She also won the title at the same championship in 2019 and 2020.
She currently has the best ranking according to the FIDE ranking list (2454), and when it comes to chess, the name of the famous Alisa Marić first comes to mind for fans of this sport.
