Igokea basketball players played a match in the third round of the WIN Line Basket Cup competition in Russia, where they visited the Zenit team in Saint Petersburg. The home team recorded a convincing victory against the squad from Laktaši with a score of 103:72, and the public’s attention was drawn to a detail from the start of the encounter, when the anthem of Republika Srpska was intoned before the beginning of the match.
It is the anthem “Moja Republika”, which has been used since 2008 as the anthem of this BiH entity. Five years later, the Constitutional Court of BiH determined that the anthem is not unconstitutional, provided it is correctly interpreted and used.
During the intoning of the anthem in the arena in Saint Petersburg, the Russian audience followed it with applause, while the Russian flag, as well as the flag of Republika Srpska, could be seen in the stands.
As a reminder, the Constitutional Court of BiH previously declared the previous anthem of Republika Srpska, “Bože pravde”, unconstitutional because it was exclusively linked to the Serbian people and the Orthodox faith.
On the court, the most effective in the ranks of Zenit was Levi Randolph with 21 points, Georgy Zhbanov added 19, while Luka Šamanić scored 15 points.
