The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) reminded that today marks 32 years since the death of “Duga” magazine journalist Radislava Dada Vujasinović, which has not been shed light upon to this day.

Murder, suicide, or an accidental death are cited as possible causes of Dada Vujasinović’s death, and in 2024, 30 years after the tragic event, the complete statute of limitations for criminal prosecution for the crime of murder took effect, UNS stated.

Radislava Dada Vujasinović was found dead on April 8, 1994, in the family apartment in Belgrade. Repeated expert testimonies at the beginning of 2008 rejected the suicide version, and the District Prosecutor’s Office initiated pre-trial proceedings for murder in January 2009.

Dada Vujasinović was born on February 10, 1964, in Čapljina. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade in 1987. After finishing university, she worked as a journalist for Privredni Pregled, and then for “Duga” magazine.

In 1993, she became a member of the editorial board of Duga. For her reports from the Slavonian battlefield that year, she received the “Svetozar Marković” award from the Association of Journalists of Serbia.

Due to her investigative texts on the connection between crime and politics, she received threats, blackmail, and lawsuits.

The book “Testimonies from a Dishonored Country,” a compilation of her texts, interviews, and private letters, was published in 1995 in Toronto.

Dada Vujasinović’s professional career was marked by investigative texts and reports on war events in Yugoslavia and political events in Serbia.

For her reports from the battlefield, she received the “Svetozar Marković” award from the Association of Journalists of Serbia. She was a member of UNS.
