General Ratko Mladić, who has been under palliative care in the Hague detention hospital for more than two years, is somewhat better, although his health condition is still serious, and today he should be examined by a neuropsychiatrist from Serbia, stated his son Darko Mladić.

He told Srna that past week he was visiting General Mladić with his son and that he seems a little better and more stable to him.

“He is somewhat better than he was, he stabilized in some sense. There is no further deterioration, which is very important for us,” Darko Mladić stated.

He notes that the general is still immobile, bedridden, but that he speaks a little more.

Darko Mladić stated that the general will be examined by a Serbian neuropsychiatrist today and that after that he expects a report in a few days.

When it comes to the extended mandate of the Hague Mechanism, which ends tomorrow, Darko Mladić said that it remains to be seen what will happen and that, as he assessed, discussions are probably being held about whether the old president of that court will remain or a new one will be elected.

At the session of the United Nations Security Council, held on June 12, Serbia demanded that the remaining residual functions of the Mechanism (such as archives and supervision) be urgently transferred to the national level, as well as to enable Serbian citizens to serve their sentences in Serbia.
