Eid is a time of joy, unity, and solidarity. If you want to congratulate a Muslim friend or neighbor on the holiday, do so in the traditional way: “Bajram šerif mubarek olsun.”
Around the world, members of the Islamic faith are marking the first day of Eid al-Fitr, one of the two most important holidays that marks the end of the month-long Ramadan fast. The Eid celebration begins with prayer immediately after dawn, RTS reports.
The first day begins with the morning prayer called Eid prayer – 45 minutes after sunrise.
Eid al-Fitr always falls on the 1st of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Muslim lunar calendar, and lasts for three days. It is considered the “holiday of a passed test.”
During Eid, believers dress in festive clothing, go to mosques by one route, and return by another.
With a rich table, the first day of Eid is spent within the family, which gathers at the home of the eldest members.
On the second day, cemeteries are visited, and on the third day, time is spent socializing with friends, acquaintances, and neighbors.
If you want to congratulate a Muslim friend or neighbor on the holiday, do so in the traditional way: “Bajram šerif mubarek olsun.”
