The management of the University Clinical Center Niš announced that it has dismissed Dragan Milić from the position of head of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic, stating that through his public appearances he was damaging the reputation of the institution. Milić was offered to sign an annex to his contract and remain employed as a doctor, while otherwise he may receive a dismissal.
The University Clinical Center (UKC) in Niš announced that Dragan Milić has been relieved of his position as head of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic, the Južne vesti portal reported.
They say the decision on the dismissal was made because Milić for a longer period “presented untruths about the work of UKC Niš on social networks and in public appearances, thereby violating the documents on work and conduct of UKC Niš.”
As stated in the statement by UKC, Milić was offered to conclude an annex to the employment contract, by which he would be removed from the position of head and accept the job of a doctor of medicine subspecialist at the Department of Cardiac Surgery and Complex Vascular Procedures. He has a deadline of 8 days to either accept this, with the possibility to appeal the decision in court, or to refuse – and in that case receive a dismissal.

The latest “move” of the Clinical Center is to dismiss Milić, precisely because of his appearances.
“During a longer period the head of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic of UKC Niš, Dr Dragan Milić, presented untruths on social networks and in public appearances about the work of UKC Niš, thereby violating the documents on work and conduct of UKC Niš. Because of this, a decision was made on his dismissal from the position of head of this organizational unit of UKC Niš,” they state in UKC.
They claim that with constant posts on social networks Milić contributes to the creation of an atmosphere in the wider public “in which it constantly becomes questionable whether the University Clinical Center Niš is equipped and ready to provide healthcare, all based on arbitrary statements that have no factual foundation and with unclear motives.”
“In an atmosphere of constant media attacks, without a real reason, the professional services, headed by the management, are forced to constantly deny unfounded allegations, fake news and half-truths, for which it is sometimes impossible to explain in simple language what it is about, which all implies that Your leadership is not in the best interest of the work of either the clinic or the institution as a whole. At the same time, you yourself grossly neglect procedures, orders of the director of the University Clinical Center Niš that are delivered to you for action, you are absent from work without notification and approval, you do not attend collegiums, you constantly publicly present untruths which create an atmosphere of distrust in the work of the University Clinical Center Niš,” the statement concludes.
