Around one million euros of undeclared money was discovered today in a van entering the territory of Kosovo at the Merdare crossing, the Kosovo Customs announced.
According to the Customs statement, the vehicle was selected for detailed inspection based on risk analysis and standard operational procedures.
Initially, the vehicle was examined with an X-ray scanner, where indicators of a modified space in the vehicle’s floor were detected.
After that, assistance was requested from the Border Police, who provided technical support using fibroscopic equipment.
During the joint inspection, undeclared funds were discovered hidden in an improvised compartment inside the vehicle, which, according to initial estimates, amount to one million euros.
The competent prosecutor has also been informed about the case, and further investigative procedures are being undertaken in coordination with him, in accordance with legal authorities.
