The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated today that the Russian stake in the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), which is being purchased by the Hungarian MOL, is worth between 900 million euros and one billion euros.
He told TV Blic that Serbia was ready to pay double for that portion.
“We had prepared the money and two billion euros to pay. Even to pay more than that,” Vučić repeated.
He added that he easily explains to himself why the Russian stake in NIS was not offered to Serbia, but he did not want to state that publicly so as not to, as he pointed out, jeopardize the interests of the state.
“Those reasons are clear to me, unambiguous, understandable, but whether they are acceptable or not is another matter,” he said.
Vučić also said that it was clear to him that the stake in NIS would not be offered to Serbia even before that situation was reached.
When asked what kind of relationship Serbia has with Russia now, he stated “good.”
