In the past 24 hours, two more female patients who sustained injuries in the fire at the Retirement Home in Tuzla died at the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC). This brought the number of victims to 17.

As announced by UKC Tuzla, after the fire, they were hospitalized at the Clinic for Anesthesiology and Resuscitation.

Currently, two patients are hospitalized at the UKC and are located at the Clinic for Internal Medicine.

In the fire on the seventh floor of the Retirement Home, which housed a total of 185 people, eleven people died and 30 were injured on November 4. Six people subsequently died in the hospital.

Media previously reported that immobile and sick residents lived on the upper floors of the Home.

The director of the Retirement Home, Mirsad Bakalović, immediately resigned.

Authorities stated that the cause of the fire was an electrical cable of a radio set.

Media reported that the radio cable of one of the tenants was squeezed between the bed and the wall, which led to damage and a short circuit, and thus the fire.
