The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced today that he supports the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, in tomorrow’s elections in that country, which are considered important not only for the future of Budapest, but also for the European Union (EU).
Vučić wrote on Instagram that he does not know whether Orban will lose or win, but that he is grateful to him for the friendship between Serbs and Hungarians.
“I do not know if Viktor will lose, or win. I only know that I am infinitely grateful to him for the friendship of Serbs and Hungarians. Without him, that friendship would not exist,” states the post, which also included a photograph of Vučić and Orban.
Vučić added that he is grateful to Orban for everything “whatever the result may be.”
“P. S. We Serbs are different, because even if you lose, we will be forever grateful,” the post concludes.
Citizens of Hungary head to the polls tomorrow for elections evaluated as historic and the most important since 1989, when the communist regime withdrew from power, and the key question is – can Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his government be replaced in these elections.
According to Deutsche Welle (DW), in today’s elections, which are also considered important for the future of the EU, for the first time since 2010, there is a real possibility that the opposition party, the conservative Tisza led by Orban’s main challenger Peter Magyar, could win.
