The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said tonight in Zrenjanin that the elections in 2026 will be the most important elections in the modern future of Serbia, and asked the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) to win them more convincingly than before.

Vučić, at the commemoration of 17 years since the founding of the ruling SNS, of which he is now a member, did not specify when those parliamentary elections will be called, although students in the blockade and citizens supporting them have been demanding they be called for several months.

Vučić: Opposition are charlatans and corruptionists, a “large gathering” follows in Novi Sad Vučić says, criticizing the opposition, that those elections will be a choice between neutrality and independence and economic development and a view towards the future of the state, and a return to the past.

Vučić asked the supporters and members of the SNS to fight even stronger for the state in those elections, “whenever they may be,” and promised them personal help, even though, as he said, he can no longer run for President of Serbia.

“I want us to defeat them more convincingly than ever before,” he said, and assessed that in those elections, “everyone will easily unite” against the SNS.

He also accused the former government and current opposition of corruption, called some of them “charlatans,” and also announced a large gathering in Novi Sad, after the anniversary of the collapse of the canopy in that city and the death of 16 people.

He also said that the anniversary will be marked with respect for both Orthodox and Catholic customs and with a demand for justice and not, alluding to those who accuse the government of being responsible for the accident due to corruption, in a pagan manner.

He also said that a “large gathering” will then be organized in Novi Sad, from which, as he said, a clear message will be sent that “Vojvodina is the most beautiful part of Serbia,” unlike those who, as he said, “wanted to take Vojvodina.”

Vučić: We remain on the European path

He promised a fight for every job and new investors, and indicated that Serbia will be on the European path as long as he is president, but that it will “make decisions independently.”

“Big things are ahead of us, by the end of the year we must present a plan to citizens until 2035. (…) the final phase is ahead of us in which we must build Serbia even stronger,” he said.

He also said that the SNS, upon coming to power, did not settle scores with anyone, and accused those who criticize them, without specifying whom he meant, of eagerly waiting to overthrow them today.

The SNS celebrated 17 years since its founding in Zrenjanin, and in addition to its president Miloš Vučević and party officials, the President of Serbia, one of the founders of that political party, also attended the rally.

Vučević: Without the SNS, there would be no Serbia, we defeated the “colored revolution”

Vučević said that the SNS was created by a “combination of patriotism and pragmatism,” and that, as he stated, the party’s formation was “an expression of the strength of a people who are brave, strong, and of an unconquered spirit.”

According to him, with the support of the people, the SNS has become “a key pillar of political and overall changes in the state.”

“This required a lot of faith, sacrifice, and out of those 17 years, the last 13 years, by the decision of the citizens from presidential to local elections, when we draw the line, no one can deny or dispute our great success,” he said.

He said that “Serbia today is awakened, prouder, returned to itself and its citizens,” and indicated that in the last year, due to the “colored revolution” if it weren’t for the SNS and the state leadership, there would be no Serbia.
