Ukrainian military recruiters launched targeted raids on restaurants, shopping malls, and a rock concert over the weekend in Kyiv, detaining men and forcing them to enlist.

In the footage, police officers appear to be forcibly detaining some men.

“Get away from me!” one visitor yelled at three police officers as they dragged him towards the recruitment desk that was set up on Friday in front of the Palace of Sports in Kyiv, where the Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy was performing.

PRATITE NAS I NA FEJSBUKU:

The man’s face contorted in fear as he strained against the police officers, the video shows.
Several women filmed the police officers with their smartphones and shouted:

“Shame! Shame on you!”

Checks were also carried out at Goodwine, a luxury shopping mall, and Avalon, a popular restaurant.

Such raids are unusual in the capital and reflect Ukraine’s need for new recruits for the army.

All Ukrainian men aged 25-60 are eligible for conscription, and men aged 18-60 are not allowed to leave the country.

Local media report that similar raids were carried out in clubs and restaurants in other Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv and Dnipro.

Ukraine has intensified its mobilization this year, and a new law came into force in the spring stipulating that those who meet the conditions for military service must enter their data into an online system or face penalties.
