U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with “Fox News,” stated that he had the option to pardon himself when he first left the White House but ultimately decided not to. He also discussed Joe Biden’s use of presidential preventative pardons during a conversation with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“I was given the option. They said, ‘Sir, would you like to pardon everyone, including yourself?’ I said, ‘I’m not going to pardon anyone. We didn’t do anything wrong,'” Trump said, as reported by The Washington Times.

“We had people who suffered. They are incredible patriots. They put former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon in prison. They also put former trade adviser Peter Navarro in prison. We had people who suffered, and much worse than that—they lost everything they had,” Trump said, adding:

“Most of those people wouldn’t even accept a pardon. On the other hand, Biden was going around granting pardons to everyone.”

Former U.S. President Joe Biden set a record for the number of pardons issued during a single term. He issued preventative pardons for Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of the January 6 House Committee, whom he believed might become targets of Trump’s retribution, the Washington Times notes.

Biden, on Monday, at the last minute, also pardoned his brothers James and Francis Biden, his sister Valerie Biden, and their spouses just minutes before Trump took the oath of office.

This followed an extensive pardon for his son, Hunter Biden, among others.

“You know, the funny thing, maybe the sad thing, is that he didn’t pardon himself,” Trump said.

When asked if Biden’s actions and decisions should be investigated, Trump replied, “I don’t know,” later adding that he would leave that decision to Congress.

“I went through four years of hell with the garbage we had to deal with. I went through four years of hell,” Trump said, referring to the trials and cases brought against him, and added:

“I spent millions of dollars on legal fees, and I won. But I did it the hard way. It’s really hard to say they shouldn’t go through that too. It’s very hard to say. Joe Biden has very bad advisers. Someone advised Joe Biden to pardon everyone except himself,” Trump concluded.
