U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the Minneapolis shooting in which federal agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fatally shot a man during an intervention today.
Trump posted a photo on the social media platform Truth Social that allegedly shows the gun of the killed man.
“This is the attacker’s gun, loaded, with two additional full magazines, and ready to use — what is even going on here? Where is the local police? Why weren’t they allowed to protect ICE officers? Were they pulled back by the mayor and governor?” he wrote.
The U.S. president added that ICE had to defend itself because many local police officers were not permitted to do their jobs.
“Why does Ilhan Omar have $34 million in her account? And where are the tens of billions of dollars stolen from the once-great state of Minnesota? We’re there because of massive financial fraud, with billions of dollars missing, and illegal criminals allowed to infiltrate the state through Democratic open-border policies. We want that money back, and we want it back now,” Trump continued.
Trump’s post referenced a series of scandals involving fraud in federal programs affecting Minnesota.
“Those fraudsters who stole the money should go to prison, where they belong! This is no different from a major bank robbery. Much of what you are witnessing is actually a cover-up of this theft and fraud. The mayor and governor are inciting rebellion with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric! These self-important political fools should be seeking billions of dollars stolen from the citizens of Minnesota and the United States. Let our patriotic ICE officers do their job! In Minnesota, 12,000 illegal criminals have been arrested and removed, many of them violent. If they were still there, you’d see something far worse than what you are witnessing today,” Trump concluded.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that the deceased is a 37-year-old white man, a resident of Minneapolis, and a U.S. citizen.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that preliminary information indicates the man had a firearm with two magazines of ammunition.
