Three young men, Marjan Brković and Strahinja Ljubičić from Kraljevo, who are geodesy students, together with Srećko Ivković from Rudnik, all of whom participated in earlier student marches, have entered the sixth day of their journey to Mount Athos.

They met, they say, on the march that went towards Belgrade from western Serbia – they were the main flag bearers of that column. “We are going to talk to the monks in Hilandar, to mention all the victims who died in the canopy collapse, and to send a clear message from Hilandar – that there is no surrender. Both the Serbian Orthodox Church, Hilandar, and all religious institutions should stand by the students,” Srećko Ivković tells N1.

They set off from Kraljevo on April 17th on a journey over 600 kilometers long.

Earlier, they stated that just as “our heroes rushed on bicycles to Strasbourg for 13 days and nights,” they are going to something that is most sacred to seek a blessing, as they said, since our Patriarch will not give it to them, and to pray on Mount Athos for “strength and eternal peace for all our victims.” Also, as they stated, they want with this act to give encouragement to all the bishops who supported them to persevere.

One of the young men walking to Hilandar also had a message for Patriarch Porfirije, and called on him to stand by the students and lead processions.

Along the way, they are collecting money for children from “Zvečanska,” and as they reported, they met a family with two sick children, to whom they donated 200 euros.
