“THIS IS THE STRANGEST THING I’VE EVER TRIED”: American visits Serbian and Croatian prison restaurant! (VIDEO)

American Justice Reid has been living in the Balkans for several years, regularly posting videos about it on his social media. Balkan food is often the subject of his videos, and now he has decided on a rather unusual move – trying prison food.

The first prison (more precisely, a prison restaurant) he visited was Zabele in Pozarevac, Serbia, because, as he says, he heard that the food there is the best. In this restaurant, prisoners work, and although the menu was not in English, Justice managed and ordered several dishes.

“Reminds me of American barbecue”

“Bread bigger than my head,” he said of the bun that arrived first, and he first tried a skewer with vegetables and fries. He enjoyed the meal, so he continued with ribs, kajmak, onion, and potatoes, which he claims is the best he has ever tasted.

“It’s perfect, this reminds me of American barbecue. This would be very popular in America,” he said, and then tried a Shopska salad and a Karađorđeva schnitzel filled with kajmak, which also delighted him.

After the Serbian prison, he went to Croatia, more precisely to Lepoglava.

“The strangest thing I’ve ever tried”

At the beginning of the video, he said he wanted to find the best prison food in the Balkans, and then he came to the Lepoglava prison restaurant, where he first ordered buns and steak in sauce with croquettes.

“It looks like a pancake with meat, I’ve never seen anything like it,” he concluded.

He says that this dish is the strangest thing he has ever tried, but that it is very good, and then he tried croquettes for the first time, which he called potato sticks.

“I’ve only just started living,” he said when he tried them.

Next on the menu was the “Banov odrezak” steak, which, he says, is full of meat and toothpicks, and he compared it to cordon bleu. He also liked the sauce it was served with, as well as the potatoes, and he also tried a glass of wine that they also produce in the prison, reports Index.hr.

Then the dish “veseli Zagorac” came up, a stuffed steak in mushroom sauce with croquettes. He liked that dish too, and he concluded the video with the sentence: “I should visit prisons more often.”
