Donald Trump took the oath of office, officially becoming the 47th President of the United States.

“I solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter: So help me God!” Trump recited the oath while placing his hand on two Bibles.

“The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump declared in his inaugural address.

At the beginning of his speech, Trump thanked several former presidents in attendance, including outgoing President Joe Biden.

“From this day forward, our country will flourish and once again be respected around the world. We will be the envy of every nation and will no longer allow ourselves to be exploited,” Trump said.

President Donald Trump also announced he would put an end to the weaponization of the Department of Justice during his inaugural speech.

“The scales of justice will be balanced once again. The malicious, violent, and unjust use of the Department of Justice’s power will come to an end,” Trump stated.

Donald Trump proclaimed his return as the 47th President with “confidence and optimism that we are at the dawn of an exciting new era of national success.”

During his address, he added that “a tide of change is sweeping the country.”

“Sunlight is pouring over the entire world, and America has the chance to seize this moment like never before,” Trump said.

In his inaugural speech, President Donald Trump acknowledged that many people had lost their homes in the wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles in recent weeks.

Firefighting teams have been battling strong winds that have spread the fires more quickly and complicated containment efforts.

“They rage through homes and communities, even striking some of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals in our nation, some of whom are sitting here right now. They no longer have homes,” Trump said.

“It’s remarkable. But we cannot allow this to happen,” he added.

Trump criticized the Biden administration during his inaugural speech—while former President Joe Biden sat just steps away—for failing to “manage a simple crisis at home.”

The President also touched on immigration, a central focus of his new administration, stating that the government “fails to protect our magnificent law-abiding citizens but provides sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals.”

“We have a government that has provided unlimited resources to defend foreign borders but refuses to defend America’s borders or, more importantly, its people.”

Trump declared that today, January 20, 2025, is “a day of liberation.”

“I hope that our recent presidential election will be remembered as the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country,” Trump said during his inaugural address.
