Novak Đoković advanced to the third round of the Shanghai Masters with a victory over American Alex Mikelsen with a result of 2:0 in sets. Both sets ended in a tie-break.

Although he had to claw back a three-game deficit in the first set, Đoković, for what feels like the umpteenth time in his career, managed to turn things around and then demonstrated his hunger for victory by clinching another tiebreak.

In the second set, things seemed to be going much more smoothly for the Serb, but the American fought back from a 4-1 deficit. However, Đoković once again proved why he’s the greatest, overcoming this complication and securing the set in another tiebreak. This came after several missed match points and saved set points, and the set ultimately had to be decided by a final point.

The third round could potentially offer us a classic tennis match between Novak and Stan Wawrinka, who is yet to play his second-round match against Koboli.

Earlier today, Miomir Kecmanović got kicked out of the tournament in the second round.
