Students in blockade at higher education institutions in Belgrade announced today that four of their colleagues were detained while carrying money donated by citizens to support the continuation of the student movement, stating that the Criminal Police Directorate intercepted them, searched them, and seized around two million dinars.

The students have since been released, but the money has not been returned to them.

“Students are traveling across the country, going from place to place, talking to people, connecting and building support. This work requires fuel, accommodation, and basic conditions to reach every place in the country. That is exactly what citizens are donating for. That is exactly what costs money. That is exactly what has now been taken away,” the students stated on the social network X.

The students emphasized that this is citizens’ money, given to them so they could endure.

They stressed that any confiscation of this money only shows how much the authorities are bothered by what the students are doing.

“Our colleagues have been released, but the money you donated has not been returned. They took it and kept it, knowingly and without shame, aware of who it belongs to and why it was collected,” the students stated.
