A 38-year-old Serbian citizen employed as a delivery driver was arrested in Lower Austria on suspicion of stealing valuable items that he was supposed to deliver to citizens!
According to Krone, the Serbian man had been stealing packages from several postal distribution centers for months, and after numerous complaints and an extensive investigation, he was handcuffed.
– “He had the same method of theft. Instead of loading the packages onto the truck and transporting them to depots and branches, he put them in the cabin, opened them, and kept what he liked best. Practically, he kept the best shipments for himself,” Krone writes.
Following numerous complaints about undelivered orders at the post office, an internal investigation was launched and the police were informed.
– “Suspicion quickly fell on the 38-year-old from Serbia, and he was placed under surveillance. After tracking him, he was caught in the act while trying to ‘gift’ himself a kitchen robot in Langenlois, in the district of Krems.”
Between the loading platform and the back wall, partially opened packages were found, and stolen goods were recovered from his backpack.
– “It is suspected that he repeatedly opened boxes on various routes for at least three months. According to current investigations, the total value of the stolen goods is at least a four-digit sum,” Krone reports.
