Crvena zvezda was defeated by Milan 2-1 in the sixth round of the Champions League group stage.

The impression is that Zvezda did not look bad on the pitch, but despite the fight and desire, they failed to get any new points in the elite competition.

Zvezda entered the match quite calmly, and in the fourth minute, we saw the first minor excitement, when Điga corrected Mimović’s mistake, thereby preventing Leao from passing towards Zvezda’s goal.

Just three minutes later, Davide Calabria created an excess, and then shot poorly after a return pass. Uroš Spajić responded in the next minute, when he positioned himself and fired from a distance, but was not accurate enough.

The home team had their first serious chance in the 14th minute when Leao broke down the right flank past Điga and shot from an angle, but Guteša was focused on the goal.

Then, in the 18th minute, Zvezda almost took the lead. Milson passed well, played in Šerif, who lowered the ball in front of Maksimović, and the popular Messi hit only the crossbar.
In the middle of the first half, there were problems for the hosts, as Fonseca had to make two changes. First, in the 28th minute, Loftus Cheek left the game, to be replaced by Chukwueze, and two minutes later, Morata also had to leave, and was replaced by Tammy Abraham.

Then, at the end of the first half, the home side took the lead. In the 43rd minute, Rafael Leao received the ball over the defense, managed to escape Spajić and Điga, to receive the ball and exploit Guteša’s weaker judgment, and hammer the ball into the net on the run, for Milan’s lead at halftime.

Vladan Milojević’s chosen ones entered the second half well, which was also started by Mirko Ivanić, who replaced Milson. So, in the 47th minute, Mimović entered from an angle, and had a good situation, when he shot after a cross, but Menion closed the near corner well.

Just three minutes later, Silas also threatened, who, also from an angle on the right, aimed at the far corner, but was not accurate.

In the 54th minute, Tammy Abraham shot from the penalty spot, but hit Naser Điga’s back, who reacted quite sacrificially, thus saving his team’s goal.

In the 60th minute, VAR was watched, after a duel between Elšnik and Musa, but it was obvious that there would be no penalty for the home team.

A new change for the red and whites was seen a minute later, when Nemanja Radonjić came on for Andrija Maksimović.

It was Radonjić who brought Zvezda the equalizer in the 67th minute, and in what a way.
He got a lot of space in front of the penalty area, positioned himself, and with his weaker, left foot, fired a projectile into Menion’s net, who only embellished this goal.

The game continued a bit harder, and Zvezda threatened again in the 78th minute. Then Mirko Ivanić shot from an angle, aimed at the far corner, but the ball went just past the post.
And then, in the 88th minute, complete confusion, and a really controversial situation in front of Zvezda’s goal.

Ivan Guteša reacted brilliantly after a corner, but the ball bounced to Abraham, who somehow managed to send the ball into the net.

However, VAR was watched, and it seemed that before the goal, Spajić had been pushed and fouled, however, the referees made a different decision, and the goal stood.

That’s how the match ended, and the Rossoneri got a difficult victory.

After this triumph, Milan reached 12th place with 12 points, while Zvezda is in a distant 31st place, with three points won.
